hear ME now is a specialty Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) program, which means that we teach children who are deaf or hard of hearing to listen and speak. We also support adults who lose their hearing later in life to access the full potential of listening through hearing technology.
Children and adults served by hear ME now use cochlear implants and hearing aids to access sound, and our specially trained speech-language pathologists help them develop listening and spoken language skills to maximize their potentialÂ
While hear ME now does not teach sign language, we support the informed decisions made by families. There are different schools of thought about educating children who are deaf or hard of hearing. At hear ME now, we recognize that there is no single approach that is right for every child. We strive to provide families with the tools they need to understand their child’s hearing loss, make informed choices and find the path that is right for their family.
Our goal is to prepare children to succeed in mainstream classrooms alongside their peers with typical hearing and for adults to fully access the hearing world around them.
