2018 Break the Sound Barrier Ski Race

16th Annual “Break the SoundBarrier” Ski Race & Winter Fest
March 4, 2018

Mt. Abram

This year, our annual ski race fundraiser expanded to include Winter Fest activities and moved to a new location! This popular event is our largest fundraiser and we are thankful to those who supported us and joined us on a beautiful March Sunday. In addition to our flagship Ski Race, we added Winter Fest activities that included family friendly games, snow decorating, sledding, bonfire, s’mores and more. We’re happy so many hear ME now families were able to come together and spend a fun winter day with us as you support our mission to bring Speaking and Listening therapy to children and adults in the deaf and hard of hearing community.

All the fun took place at a new location – Mt. Abram in Greenwood on March 4th.

If you were unable to join us this year, mark your calendar for the first Sunday of March, 2019 when we host our 17th Annual Ski Race & Winter Fest!

I’ve never raced a slalom course; is it suitable for beginners?

After you’ve registered, get pledges from family & friends, collect the money to bring with you to the race and get seconds off your team race times. For every $10 you collect, you get 1/10 of a second off your time! One run takes approximately 30 seconds to complete. To fundraise, email us at info@hear-me-now.org  and we will set you up!

What does this fundraising event support?

Hearing loss is the most common birth defect in Maine affecting 3 out of every 1,000 children. In the past, this meant delayed speech, language and literacy skills and reliance on interpreters to communicate. The incidence of late deafened adults who choose cochlear implants or digital hearing aids is on the rise. Now, thanks to advances in technology and programs such as hear ME now, individuals with hearing loss can communicate in the hearing world without the need for an interpreter!
